iPhone 17 Pro's Ceramic Shield 2 Is the Real Deal, Podcast Hosts Say

Apple's second-generation Ceramic Shield, the front glass on the iPhone 17 Pro, is getting a strong endorsement from the Accidental Tech Podcast. In the pre-show segment of episode 686, the hosts said the new glass is the real deal, suggesting they think it delivers on what Apple promised.

The praise matters because front-glass durability is one of the most closely watched traits of each new iPhone. Ceramic Shield has been Apple's answer to scratches and drops since the iPhone 12, so a meaningful upgrade would be a selling point for anyone choosing a Pro model.

It is worth keeping the context in mind, though. This was a conversational verdict on a podcast, not a published lab test with drop heights, scratch-hardness figures or side-by-side comparisons. Buyers who want hard numbers should look to independent testing before deciding whether the glass alone justifies the upgrade.
